What’s the LightShadow Project

The LightShadow Project is a project curated by intuitive coach, traditional astrologer and tarologist JUJU_XX, born from a passion for the astrological tradition of the Middle Ages and the early modern period, historical research, and the beautiful symbolism of the tarot.

With a degree in economics and management of historical heritage, for the past 10 years I have devoted myself exclusively to the use of traditional astrological methods, studying the texts of William Lilly, Ptolemy, Dorotheus and Abu Ma'shar (among others). I also specialised by following the teachings of the Academy of Traditional Astrology of Luís Ribeiro and the late Helena Avelar and the Italian astrology school Almugea.

Concerning horary astrology (the study of single questions), I trained with Sue Ward, following and completing her “Traditional Horary Course” in 2021-22. I also deepened my studies in horary and electional techniques and continue to collaborate with Italian astrologer Giacomo Albano.

Using the tools of traditional astrology, my aim is to work with people, leading them through the discovery of their own potential and empowering them to make conscious choices for their lives through a constructive, positive, open-minded and supportive approach.

The astrology practised in the tradition was an astrology of light. Where there is light, vital energy and balance of the opposite principles (active and passive, moist and dry, hot and cold), there is the possibility for life and harmony to thrive. The idea of the name of this project comes exactly from that. In particular, it was also inspired by a concept in classical astrology called antiscion (meaning “shadow” in Greek).

According to this principle, every degree of the Zodiac has a mirroring point in which the day and the night have the same length, if we were to draw a line between the winter and the summer solstice points. If two planets in a chart are on their antiscia points, even though they may be far from each other, they are however fused and connected by a tight bond made of same energy, even if hidden.

Likewise, by understanding the dynamics in our chart, which are our strongest features and where things may be a bit more difficult, we can start celebrating ourselves and accepting our complexity. The astrology of our chart can be the moment when we decide to concentrate ourselves following the light within us, connecting all centres of our force and endurance to keep developing our self awareness and a curious mind to the outer world. Along this path, I’d be honoured to accompany you, by sharing what astrology has taught me and keeps teaching me.
